{"id":1425,"date":"2015-02-10T14:56:49","date_gmt":"2015-02-10T06:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bruneigeomatics.com\/?p=1425"},"modified":"2018-12-10T23:45:15","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T15:45:15","slug":"big-blood-donation-drive-10-february-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bruneigeomatics.com\/?p=1425","title":{"rendered":"BIG Blood Donation Drive &#8211; 10 February 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Brunei Institution Of Geomatics (BIG) together with the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Mobile Blood Bank and its food partner SCR Express on Tuesday held a very successful joint Blood Donation Campaign at the Citis Square outlet.<\/p>\n<p>BIG President Pg Hj Matusin Pg Hj Matasan said the campaign was organised as part of the organisers\u2019 corporate social responsibility \u2014 to assist RIPAS Hospital to boost its blood reserves.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1426\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1426\" src=\"https:\/\/bruneigeomatics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/blood-donation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"218\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BIG President, Pg Hj Matusin bin Pg Hj Matasan, and some donors giving the thumbs-up. He appealed to all able-bodied individuals to step forward and make a difference in the community<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cAs everyone is well aware, Brunei Darussalam\u2019s population is small, and obtaining blood donations is therefore understandably quite a challenge. Further compounding this situation is the fact that an increasing number of people are suffering from chronic diseases (according to recent health reports) and are disqualified from donating,\u201d explained Pg Hj Matusin on why there is always a shortage of blood, judging from the many appeals for blood being circulated in the local social media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cOn behalf of all the needy patients out there, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated blood to assist them\u2026At the same time, I would also like to appeal to all able-bodied individuals to step forward to make a difference in our community. Your country and community need you\u2026And remember, one doesn\u2019t have to be a doctor or a paramedic to save lives \u2014 just donate some blood.
